All new permanent buildings on the UC Merced campus are required to achieve minimum LEED Silver since 2002 and, as of March 2009, minimum LEED Gold. Since 2005, UC Merced has an on-campus LEED coordinator working with every building project to ensure compliance, gather documentation, and submit projects for review by the U.S.Green Building Council.
