A brief description of the institution’s wellness and/or employee assistance program(s):
UC Merced’s wellness program sponsored by Human Resources provides faculty and staff with wellness programs to encourage healthy lifestyle choices that improve overall health. These programs include faculty and staff fitness classes, weight watchers at work, UC walks/wellness fair events, and lactation accommodation support. Human Resources also sponsors the Employee Assistance Program which provides confidential and professional EAP services to employees and their families.
UC Merced also provides a Wellness Program for students, housed under the Division of Student Health and Wellness, a division within Student Affairs. The vision of the program is to provide a balanced and proactive wellness program of the highest quality that empowers students to impact their individuals health behavior patterns and produce tangible improvements in their use of wellness services, enhance their well-being, and fulfill their personal and academic goals. As a student-centered team, the program utilizes the seven dimensions of wellness (Physical, Emotional, Social, Spiritual, Intellectual, Occupational, and Environmental) to guide services. These dimensions promote a more holistic approach to wellness and each dimension is equally important in supporting academic and personal success.
