A brief description of the RECs, GOs and/or similar renewable energy products, including contract timeframes:
The university sources power through the University of California (UC) Wholesale Power Program which is a Energy Service Provider (ESP). The UC ESP provides clean green power to campuses in an effort to support the UC Systems carbon neutrality initiative. The figure provided is reflective of the power the university sources through its agreement. UC_ESP’s RECs are retired (in WREGIS) and a green clean power is supplied to the campus.

Sierra magazine requests the following information from U.S. institutions that wish to share data with that organization:
Percentage of total electricity use (0-100) | |
Biomass | 0 |
Coal | 0 |
Geothermal | 0 |
Hydro | 26 |
Natural gas | 0 |
Nuclear | 0 |
Solar photovoltaic | 49 |
Wind | 0 |
Other (please specify and explain below) | 25 |
A brief description of other sources of electricity not specified above:
The other sources of electricity are "unspecified sources of power," meaning electricity from transactions that are not traceable to specific generation sources.
Energy used for heating buildings, by source::
Percentage of total energy used to heat buildings (0-100) | |
Biomass | 0 |
Coal | 0 |
Electricity | 0 |
Fuel oil | 0 |
Geothermal | 0 |
Natural gas | 100 |
Other (please specify and explain below) | 0 |
A brief description of other sources of building heating not specified above:
---
Percentage of total energy consumption from clean and renewable sources:
35.06
Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
The total energy consumption includes all power sources used by the institution, including the power sourced by the university from its energy service provider. The figure also includes the campus one mega-watt solar pv. The university sources power through the University of California Wholesale Power Program that provides clean green power to campuses that have opted into the program. The UC System Wholesale Power Program reduces the carbon emissions associated with power through renewable energy generation. The RECs are retired in WREGIS and a green clean power is supplied to the campus.
