1st program
Green Office Program
A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):
The Green Office Program works directly with unit, departmental employee’s, or a unit, departmental employee representative on sustainable practices. The Green Office Coordinator provides a presentation/training to employees, or a unit, departmental representative who assists with educating the unit and department members on sustainable practices that can be implemented into work-spaces. The Green Office Coordinator provides training, information, and support to program participants. The coordinator serves as a resource to inform unit, departmental employees and employee designate representative(s) on sustainable practices that are than used to inform peers. The coordinator also provides walk-through's and audits, which all serve as informational resources for employee educators to understand and communicate sustainable practices.

2nd Program
Green Labs Program
A brief description of the employee educators program (2nd program):
UC Merced also implemented a Green Labs program fall of 2016 designed to reduce the environmental impacts of research laboratories. The program engages PI's and researchers through informational presentation's and training's on sustainable practices that can be included into research labs. The PI participant's engage and inform faculty counter parts and student researchers on methods to increase or improve the sustainable performance of shared labs. The PI's are provided with informational consultations, audits, and walk-through's of spaces to determine practices that can be implemented into labs.

Additional Programs
The campus also provides zero waste event trainings to students, faculty, and staff. The training's serve to inform members of the campus community on practices that can reduce waste generation from events. Presentations have been provided to event coordinators and event logistical support. These individuals assist with informing event coordinators on practices that reduce waste generation for events.
UC Merced recycling also provided training to custodial staff on the university's zero waste efforts. The custodial training includes information on landfill, compost, and recyclable streams, as well as information on waste operations.

Green Office program serves faculty and staff. The Green Labs program focuses on faculty researchers, PI's graduate and undergraduate labs assistants.
