The UC Academic Senate approved a system-wide open access policy to ensure free public access to research articles authored by UC faculty. Faculty benefit by having their research widely and publicly available, re-use it for various purposes, modify it for future research publications, and potentially have this help fulfill grant requirements. The Sustainability Office provides grants to support faculty research and sustainability which could be used for open access.
