A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to non-academic staff:
- The Sustainability Certificate Program for employees provides in-depth learning about sustainability related topics, taught by campus staff, faculty and community partners. Participants must take five core and one elective courses to receive a certificate.

- Greening Campus Events course. A green event is one that is organized with the goal of minimizing waste and promoting sustainable practices at every step of event planning and hosting. This workshop will provide participants with strategies and resources for conducting an inclusive event that reduces environmental impacts. Sustainable vendors will provide samples of some common events materials and food. Offered by UC Learning.

- Diversity & Inclusion Certification Program provides a valuable professional development opportunity at no cost to the participants or their respective units. It is designed to offer participants an in-depth examination of diversity and differences in order to gain a greater understanding of how we can and why we should work together to build a stronger and more inclusive UC Santa Cruz community. Participants will gain valuable knowledge and skills that will enable them to more effectively and enjoyably work and lead in a multicultural, diverse environment. Program examines social justice issues. Since 2011, 568 people have graduated from the program. http://diversity.ucsc.edu/training/certificate_program/index.html

- Staff Human Resources has multiple and ongoing classes. For example: "Speaking Up to Bias as an Ally".

- Environmental Health & Training department has multiple classes and videos: https://ehs.ucsc.edu/training/

- Risk Services has wellness classes and webinars such as "Fit at Work" and "Meditation and Mindfulness"

- Financial Affairs and the UC Office of the President has trainings on personal financial and investment

A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :
The Sustainability Office provides annual funding for regular sustainability conference attendance for core sustainability staff (five employees). In addition, they also subsidize sustainability conferences and presentations for faculty, staff, and students on an as-needed basis.

PLAN's conference "Students for Zero Waste"

UCSC is a member of APPA, the trade organization for higher education facility services. This group provides multiple educational and professional development opportunities for our trades and construction departments. A lot of these opportunities are related to energy efficiency, resource reduction, and other sustainable topics.

LinkedIn Learning is available to 100% of staff and has a whole "Sustainable Strategies" track.

LEED Accreditation: The University of California provides campuses with a Silver level membership in USGBC. Through this all campus faculty, staff, and students can access a wide array of resources and are able to participate in LEED and other Green Building training.
