1st campaign

Name of the campaign:
Knights Go Green Recycle Challenge

A brief description of the campaign:
The Student Governments of UCF and USF hosted a recycling competition to see which of the two universities collected the most plastic bottles and aluminum cans in their Coca Cola Reverse Recycling Machines (RVMs) during the month of April 2023. The campaign was targeted at both students and faculty, using the school’s competitive spirit to encourage recycling behaviors on campus and raise awareness about the locations and purposes of the RVMs on campus.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
UCF collected a total of 2,628 bottles and cans in April 2023, winning the competition at an average of 1,314 units returned per RVM.

By comparison, the total units returned for the entire Fiscal Year 2021-2022 (July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022) was 2,684. This means UCF collected nearly a year’s worth of bottles and cans during the one month of competition, a considerable increase in recycling!
