A brief description of the diversity and equity committee, office and/or officer, including purview and activities:
The Division of Equity, Inclusion & Community Impact works to bring out the best in our students, faculty and staff by valuing their unique backgrounds, experiences and perspectives -- welcoming and leveraging individual contributions to collaborate, create, innovate and compete in a global society. We address issues of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct and retaliation so members of our communty can work, learn, grow and thrive in a safe and supportive environment. Ultimately, we aspire toward inclusive excellence by leading with courage and compassion, treating everyone with dignity and respect and enhancing the quality of life for everyone with whom we connect. The Division houses an Office of Equity and Inclusion, an Office of Gender Equity and Inclusion, and an Office of Equal Opportunity and Access--each with dedicated leadership and staff. See https://www.uc.edu/about/equity-inclusion/about/meet-the-team.html
UC also has a Diversity Council, which serves as the university-level governance committee charged with building institution-wide capacity to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse campus that embraces diversity as one of our core values, infusing every aspect of campus life and purpose, and every measure of success; as well as a Student Diversity and Inclusion Council: see https://www.uc.edu/about/equity-inclusion/about/student-diversity.html
