FLOWS bridges social justice and environmental issues. FLOWS provides leadership training opportunities, green job skills, and free energy and water upgrades while building partnerships between CU students and staff and community members. We partner with and work primarily for low-income communities for water and energy conservation (the communities most in need of lower energy and water bills).

A partnership between CU Boulder, City of Boulder, Boulder County, Boulder Valley School District entered into in 2009 (with St. Vrain School District joining later) to collaboratively pursue and enhance efforts toward environmental sustainability.

CU Boulder is a founding member ofThe Shed. The Shed, Boulder County, is a coalition of governmental and non-profit Boulder County leaders concerned that somewhat less than two percent of food consumed in Colorado is produced locally and who see a need to restore balance to our food system by promoting an increase in production, consumption and preservation of regional and local food options in Boulder County. While from different organizations with varying missions, the members share an understanding that by shortening food chains we rebuild relationships with the land, our food and between ourselves. Accordingly, The Shed encourages practices such as market agriculture in Boulder County, participation in community-supported agriculture and neighborhood gardens and edible landscapes, all which offer the potential benefit of increased stewardship of our open spaces, tastier and healthier food choices, and a more vital economy where we keep as much of our dollars circulating locally as possible. For more information, visit https://theshedbouldercounty.org/   Representatives of CU Boulder's Housing and Dining Services participate in The Shed. CU Boulder made the 2017 Good Food 100 list http://goodfood100restaurants.org/goodfood100/   The list is a ranking of restaurants whose practices and transparency about their sourcing are good for the environment, plants and animals, producers, purveyors, restaurants (including workers) and eaters.
