A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):
During the school year the college provides orientation activities and programs that prominently include sustainability for all freshman and transfer students. The Sustainability Office staff hosts freshman orientation as a zero-waste event at each lunch and provides educational outreach as a booth during the resource fair. Transfer and graduate student orientations also have a sustainable educational outreach booth during the resource fair, which provides information on campus sustainability in the curriculum, operations, and student life. Both freshman and transfer orientations provide information about sustainability in the orientation handbook. Furthermore, an office staff introduces a 5 minute video on all aspects of sustainability at UCCS. This video was filmed, edited and produced by students. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=4&v=swp1ylnkDSY The Director of Orientation and New Student Outreach, Nick Lockwood, promotes the new Orientation app, which has been downloaded by 2,506 devices greatly reducing the amount of paper Orientation has to print.
