UCCS used the SIMAP tool from the University of New Hampshire. We used market-based emissions factors from the e-grid for the ROCK: WECC Rockies region.

A brief description of the GHG inventory verification process:
The GHG inventory was prepared by the Director of Sustainability and Director of Energy and Utilities with the support of student staff in the Office of Sustainability.

The inventory was verified by the Associate Vice Chancellor for Campus Planning and Facilities Management and our third-party reviewer Colorado College Office of Sustainability.

A brief description of how the institution accounted for its Scope 3 emissions:
SIMAP was used to calculate emissions.
Business Travel = Faculty and staff air travel miles obtained from the University of Colorado Procurement Services Center.
Commuting = Student, faculty, and staff miles per the mode of transportation via a campus-wide survey with 10% of students and 23% of employees responding.
Purchased Goods and Services = Paper by weight and percentage recycled + dollar amount of fuel for generators, police vehicles, and facilities.
Fuel and energy-related activities = Transmission and Distribution (T&D) losses and upstream emissions across the supply chain.
Waste generated in operations = Solid waste data obtained from the waste hauler + wastewater from the utilities.

The university is participating in an ozone study with the National Center for Atmospheric Research. This is citizen science on the campus to record the effects of ground level ozone on plants. However, it is not measurable in quantities.
