A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:
• River Stewards speak at Welcome events about the region’s abundant water resources, and give tour of the RiverMobile.
• All new students receive a reusable water bottle with sustainability information.
• Blue Crew, a group of new students who come early to work as part of new student orientation, visit urban agriculture projects affiliated with the university.
• Students are introduced to the campus composting system with a "no waste picnic." All waste generated during this event can be composted or recycled.
• Information about sustainability initiatives and sustainable living is distributed during 2 resource fairs, one for parents and an organization fair for students.
