A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
This list is drawn from the Hanley Sustainability Institute's list of "Sustainability Scholars," which includes all faculty who have self-identified as having scholarly interests in sustainability. We acknowledge that there may be other faculty and staff engaged in sustainability scholarship who have not yet joined this group, but we consider this to be an approach that can be consistently maintained over time. "Total number of employees that conduct research" was counted to parallel the faculty focus of the Sustainability Scholars list. All faculty are included in the total count.
