A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :
- Each New Student Orientation group has scheduled team time. During the first team time in the 2021 orientation, information and steps on how to participate in Dining's Go Green reusable to-go container initiative as part of a campus zero waste initiative.
- Camp Blue students participate in a day of service each year. Camp Blue is a New Student Orientation program in which about 100 incoming first-year students arrive about a week early and get to know the University and then act as ambassadors for their first-year peers when they move in. The day of service has been connected with sustainability and environmental stewardship as they have volunteered at Mission of Mary - an urban farm, at Five Rivers Metroparks and the Marianist Environmental Education Center.
- At the resource fairs, Campus Ministry promotes service and social action clubs such as the Sustainability Club and the CRS Student Ambassadors, both of which are working at environmental sustainability.
- In 2019, the River Stewards distributed reusable cups, in partnership with HSI, and two Stewards spoke to the first year students about our water resources.
