The following University owned space was excluded from STARS reporting:
The University owns several properties off campus, including Greek houses, single-family homes, and apartments that are not incorporated into our general physical plant. The individual renters of these properties pay the utilities directly and not through the University. This totals 367,709 sq. ft.
The University has 1,079,532 sq. ft. in parking structures. The utility costs for parking structures are not comparable to other buildings on campus. They have been excluded from our calculations because they would inappropriately skew utility usage calculations.
The University has some remote locations – the Echo Lake Station, Chamberlin Observatory, and Mt. Evans Observatory – that were not included because of unavailability of utility information. These facilities total 19,671 sq. ft.
