Whenever feasible substitute for materials that are less hazardous and/or more environmentally friendly. Minimize the amounts of material to be purchased or used to reduce the likelihood of accumulating waste. Recycle materials, such as cleaners, automotive fluids, and wash waters, whenever it is feasible. Minimize the use of water whenever feasible.

A brief description of how the institution safely disposes of hazardous, universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:
The University has implemented a Hazardous Materials Management policy that establishes institutional requirements for managing the procurement, the use, the storage, and ultimately the disposal of hazardous materials. The policies for safe disposal are include in the Hazard Communication Program which establishes the requirements for informing and training employees about hazardous chemicals in accordance with OSHA standard, 29 CFR 1910.1200.
