The University is committed to seeking carbon neutrality by the year 2050 through conservation, reduced consumption and pursuing appropriate and responsible alternative energy sources.

A brief summary of the climate plan’s short-term goals:
A shorter term goal is for a 24% carbon reduction by the year 2020, primarily through the implementation of an Energy Conservation Program funded with dollars saved by past conservation initiatives. Energy Conservation Program projects include mechanical, lighting and automation system upgrades designed to reduce both electric and gas consumption. Our reduction plans also include leveraging building LEED design standards and behavioral change campaigns such as the dormitory water and energy competition.
