The Center for Multicultural Excellence (CME) has cross-campus responsibility for embedding the value of Inclusive Excellence in all aspects of university operations and activities. CME is active with students, staff, faculty, administrators, trustees, alumni and the larger community. Additionally, the Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity (DEO) “exists to assure that the university complies with our policies on discrimination, harassment, and retaliation and to promote full compliance with all federal, state, and local discrimination laws.”

A brief description of the diversity coordinator's position:
The Associate Provost for Inclusive Excellence (AP-IE), the university’s Chief Diversity Officer, reports to the Provost and is a member of the Provost’s leadership team. The AP-IE has broad responsibilities across campus, has direct responsibility for the CME, and serves as the University’s senior administrator responsible for providing an integrated vision on major equity and inclusion efforts. The anticipated outcomes of these efforts are increased compositional diversity and a climate that it is welcoming and supportive for students, faculty, and staff regardless of race, ethnicity, sex, gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, age, religious affiliation, abilities/disabilities, and other social identities. The AP-IE has the responsibility to develop and implement new initiatives and programs to provide focus and accountability for equity and inclusion across the University.
