A brief description of the institution’s initiatives to minimize air pollutant emissions from stationary sources, including efforts made during the previous three years:
Our goal has been to focus new construction efforts toward creating a building envelop which minimizes heat loss while including heat recovery HVAC options where feasible and specifying and installing high efficiency boiler and heat recovery systems. We have utilized our local utilities Energy Design Assist program, to identify and model efficiency options prior to construction, and then selected the options which maximize the benefit of available capital resource after accounting for modeled energy savings and the applicable rebate associated with the bundle. We also perform annual combustion analysis prior to the start of the heating season to assure our heating systems are optimized. We then monitor and alarm our airside economizer operation in an effort to minimize the instance of additional loads introduced on our campus heating systems as a result of the malfunction of our air handling unit outside air intakes.
