A brief description of the green building guidelines or policies and/or a list or sample of buildings covered:
The University has established a policy that all new campus construction will be built to the LEED silver standard or equivalent. This standard takes into consideration many aspects of the construction and operations process and is intended to ensure efficient and environmentally friendly performance of a building and its occupants over time.
Buildings that were built to a green building standard but not certified include:
HRTM, Chambers, Kappa Sigma, Daniels, Nelson, Evans Parking, Lambda, Performing Arts, Craig Hall, Sie Cheou-Kang Center

A brief description of how the institution ensures compliance with green building design and construction guidelines and policies:
The Facilities Management and Planning Department performs a cross functional review of the construction documents for all projects, in an effort to standardize energy savings strategies across campus and ensure each new or upgraded building is both operationally efficient and reliable. All standards included in the University guidelines and policies are carefully reviewed in relation to the design of new or remodeled facilities. We also leverage the Energy Design Assist program offered by our local Utility to model potential energy conservation initiatives for both new buildings and major additions. The program was developed to provide assistance towards LEED certification. Our Energy Conservation Program includes a building survey component which includes the analysis of the buildings operation, and the development of strategies to improve the performance of the mechanical and electrical systems to reduce our utility consumption and MeTCO2/sq.ft.
