A brief description of the institution’s formal participatory or shared governance bodies:
The Faculty Senate is the primary body through which faculty participate in the shared governance of the University of Denver. The Senate is composed of approximately 90 members elected to represent the academic units of the University. Much of the Senate's work is accomplished through its five Standing Committees. https://www.du.edu/facsen
The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) represents University of Denver undergraduate students in all matters of student life and academic life. We work to improve and support the student experience by funding organizations, coordinating with campus partners, advocating for student interests, and collaborating with other student governments on shared interests. Additionally, it is our mission to promote the welfare of the students, faculty, staff, alumni and the greater community associated with the University of Denver through advocacy, legislation, programming and funding designed to redefine the student experience and translate student vision into action. https://www.du.edu/usg
The Graduate Student Government is a council of all the Graduate Student Associations (GSAs) at the University of Denver.
The GSG has two goals at the University:
One is to foster a sense of community among the graduate students.
The other to represent that community and its interests at DU. https://www.du.edu/gsg
The University of Denver's Staff Advisory Council works to unite and support staff through advocacy and collaboration. We work to ensure that staff morale, diversity, interests, working conditions and professional development are provided for throughout DU's policies and procedures. Duties of the Staff Advisory Council include:
Conducting monthly meetings for staff to have their thoughts and concerns heard
Providing monetary benefits for staff in need through the staff benevolent fund
Organizing and selecting annual staff awards
Hosting annual events to encourage staff involvement in the wider DU community
Above all, our goal is to ensure DU's staff have the support they need to excel in their roles and contribute to a successful, harmonious University community.
