A brief description of the institution’s professional development opportunities on sustainability in the curriculum:
The University of Hawaiʻi Office of Sustainability has been designated by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) as one of only 13 Centers for Sustainability Across the Curriculum. The center will serve Hawaiʻi and the Pacific region, as well as offer select workshops to faculty from the continental United States to learn from the unique context and perspective of Hawaiʻi.

This builds upon the work of the UH Systemwide Sustainability Curriculum Coordination Council, which was established in 2015 with the formal adoption of the university’s Executive Sustainability Policy EP 4.202 to “encourage, facilitate and support curriculum development that advances the principles of sustainability and enables cross-campus collaborations that integrate teaching and research with solutions at the campus and community levels.”
