- Apply creativity and analytical thinking to convey ideas, address challenges, and seek solutions to problems

The following number of graduates from degree programs that required an understanding of the concept of sustainability were determined by the number of graduate students that completed the Sustainable Science Management Degree Program at UHMC. Last semester's graduation number was 7 graduates of the SSM program, information gathered by Program Coordinator Timothy Botkin.
A list of degree programs that require an understanding of the concept of sustainability:
The Sustainable Science Management Program (B.A.S)
1. Describe the functions, inter-relationships, and limitations of human-developed and naturally occurring systems.
2. Utilize systems and sustainability science tools to synthesize and illuminate complex problems and design durable responses.
3. Understand contemporary legal, technological, economic, cultural, and ethical infrastructure as it impacts sustainability.
4. Utilize conventional and emerging methods to measure sustainability aspects of behaviors.
5. Integrate transdisciplinary knowledge; across cultural, social and educational realms; to identify and implement sustainable practices.

While the total number of graduates from degree programs that understood the concept of sustainability was 7. I only recorded the graduates from the SSM program because understanding the "concept" of sustainability takes more than one sustainability related course. Understanding the concept implies that the student is able to understand and know "more than isolated facts and methods." The successful student understands and has the ability to transfer their knowledge into new situations and apply it to new contexts. Sustainability related courses do not provide enough information as does sustainability focused. The PLOS were given from Program Coordinator Timothy Botkin through email and attached as a separate document, revised in 2019.
