The Student Ohana for Sustainability (SOS) Club conducts two beach clean ups per semester and puts on the annual Earth Day festival. Their mission statement says that "As a diverse group of independent thinkers, SOS is committed to promoting sustainability practices through community based educational projects and events. The SOS will make our efforts a model for the campus and the nation." The SOS club does not have a seperate website but they are mentioned in the SSM programs page of Maui College. (http://maui.hawaii.edu/programs/ssm/program/). If students would like to be apart of the SOS club, they can contact the SSM program supervisor.

A brief description of the gardens, farms, community supported agriculture (CSA) or fishery programs, and/or urban agriculture projects:
UH Maui College features the Kauluwehi ethnobotanical garden that is open for student workshops and can be accessed by the public as well from Monday through Saturday. The garden features sections showcasing native Hawaiian plants along with plants that have been introduced but used ornamentally. There are areas dedicated to Hawaiian medicinal plants, those used for plants and dyes, plants that were introduced by early Polynesians, a taro bed, and a few rare, endangered species. Maui College also has an area, separate from Kauluwehi dedicated to agriculture students and workshops. UH Maui College’s Agriculture and Natural Resources Program offers three degree tracks in Sustainable Tropical Crop Management, Horticulture and Landscape Maintenance, and Cultural and Natural Resource Management. There is also Waipono Farms at Maui College. This farm is an aquaponic and hydroponic farm. Students can take part in internships and certificates through these farms as well.

Every year, the Student ʻOhana for Sustainability club hosts an Earth Day celebration. The event usually takes place in the middle of the day so students can participate and are aware of the event while they are transitioning between classes or while they are on campus for the day. Maui College also holds panel discussions on campus (e.g. waste management discussion with county members and other stakeholders) and is open to the public for anyone to join. There is also a national sustainability conference that is held at Maui College. Hulihia is also part of a community wide initative that was developed with Maui College and Kamehameha Schools through SSM.

Maui College offers a number of programs where students can learn sustainable life skills such as gardening and growing your own food in the Kauluwehi garden, growing your own food hydropponically and aquaponically at Waipono Farms on campus. Students can also take on internships through Hulihia or any of the farms listed above to learn about sustainable systems and how to apply them to real life issues.
