The Environmental Biosciences degree program at the University of Houston-Downtown provides a broad-based curriculum in liberal arts, the Natural Sciences and a set of courses specifically in biology with an environmental focus. This concentration requires ecology, environmental biology, plant biology or taxonomy course and additional courses that cover a broad collection of environmental topics.

The Environmental Geology degree program at the University of Houston-Downtown provides both a broad-based curriculum in the liberal arts, the Natural Sciences and a set of courses specific to geology and an environmental focus. This concentration requires several courses that cover a broad range of environmental-related topics. The degree program is designed to meet the needs of those interested in graduate studies in geology, environmental sciences and careers in the environmental industry that require knowledge of environment-related issues.

Minor in Sustainability
A brief description of the undergraduate minor or concentration:
The Minor in Sustainability is open to UHD students in all majors and colleges. The minor was designed with a multidisciplinary approach to prepare students to lead in their own communities. Students must complete 9 hours of required courses and 9 hours of additional courses in areas of emphasis.
Minors require a minimum GPA of 2.0 in all applied coursework. Upper level courses applied to a minor must have a grade of C or better. Minors must be distinct from any declared degree and degree concentration. Students may bring 3-4 hours of upper-level credit from another institution, but the balance of upper-level credits (depending upon minor) must be taken at UHD. Credit for directed studies, field experiences, honors thesis and undergraduate research cannot apply.
