A brief description of the socially responsible investment option for retirement plans:
New employees may opt for the "self-managed plan" of the State University Retirement System. Within that plan TIAA Cref offers the "Social Choice Account" that invests funds in socially responsible stocks and bonds such as those that do not produce alcohol and tobacco and consider employee and labor relations, as well as environmental factors. This option is also available to those employees who opt to invest funds in a 403B retirement savings plan.
