A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:
Cultural competence training, resources, and activities are available to all employees of the University of Iowa through the Office of Equal Opportunity & Diversity.
The definition for cultural competence includes four components:
1) Being aware of one’s own assumptions, biases and values
2) Possessing an understanding of the worldview of others
3) Being informed about various cultural groups
4) Acquiring the skills to develop appropriate interactions with culturally diverse groups
