A brief description of the child care program, policy, or practice:
The University of Iowa provides resources for listings of child care centers, referrals and financial support for student parents. While the University does not own or operate a child care center, there are many on-campus or near campus child care centers we can help parents connect with. We also have information and can provide referrals to child care programs throughout the community. Backup child care resources and child care resources for mildly ill children are available when usual child care arrangements are disrupted. The University offers a spring day camp for school age children of University faculty, staff and students and a web-based listing of summer programs and camps located within a seven county area. The University maintains a list of University of Iowa students who can provide occasional child care services. The University offers funding to help defray the cost of child care for student parents. During midterms and finals the University offers free center based child care to assist students during weekend study times.
