> UofL became Kentucky’s first public university to implement a living wage when it increased its minimum wage for regular status staff employees from $8.67 to $10 per hour in November 2013. Provost Shirley Willihnganz approved a proposal to increase UofL's minimum wage by 25 cents per hour per year for the next four years, starting this July and continuing in 2015, 16, and 17 – bringing the rate to $11 per hour by July 2017. Living wage adjustments during 2013 represented a 15 percent salary increase for our lowest paid employees. Today, our lowest paid full-time employees receive wages of $10.50/hour as of July 2015, increasing 25 cents/year to $11/hour in July 2017. In fall 2015, a sustainable compensation standard of $10.10/hour as a minimum wage for full-time employees of contractors was developed by a newly appointed Committee for Responsible Business Practices with multi-stakeholder representation. The Committee was appointed by the University Provost and its membership includes representatives from Student Government Association (one undergraduate and one professional/graduate); Faculty Senate; Staff Senate; the Executive Vice President and Provost's Office; the Chief Operating Officer's Office; the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research and Innovation; the Office of the Executive Vice President for Health Affairs; University Athletics; and the Office of Community Engagement.
