Divest Manitoba Divest Manitoba is a student group responsible for advocating on behalf of its members to promote environmental sustainability and working with the University of Manitoba administration. Engineers Without Borders EWB is an international development organization that seeks to alleviate poverty in sub-Saharan Africa. At the uManitoba chapter, EWB promotes awareness about topics such as Fair Trade and education about the root causes of poverty. Non-engineering students are also welcome. University of Manitoba Efficient and Renewable Technology Hub The goal of UMEARTH is to bridge the gap between professionals and students interested in the sustainable engineering industry, involve students in campus development projects with real-life engineering scenarios that teach students what to expect in industry, and improve student involvement in the community through volunteer opportunities, fundraisers, and community-driven projects.

UMSU Garden UMSU’s Student Community Garden, a student-led initiative to generate interest and excitement towards gardening among students, shares a plot with another gardening group that helps refugees transition to Winnipeg through gardening. Together, the UMSU garden and the Rainbow Community Garden, are fundraising for Project Picnic, their joint effort to purchase upwards of 15 picnic tables and paint them in bright colours to help create a warm and inviting space at their shared garden on the corner of Pembina Highway and Chancellor Matheson Rd.

Degrees Restaurant Degrees is run by the University of Manitoba's Student Union. It is part of their mission to serve local and sustainable food services to the University's Community.

Geopolitical Economy Research Group Conference - GERG Conference is a 3-day conference, which aims to establish fresh, more accurate, historically sound, multi- and inter-disciplinary and truly international perspectives on major themes of 21st century international affairs. It will identify the key historical developments that contributed to contemporary multi-polarity. Volunteers are responsible for several technical aspects of the conference to ensure it runs smoothly. Alternative Reading Week Winnipeg - Learn about ethical community engagement and local approaches to community development through guest speakers, group discussion, and community-based volunteering. Human Rights Speakers Bureau Volunteer Presenters - The Speakers Bureau was created by the University of Manitoba’s Centre for Human Rights Research and is supported by the Faculty of Law Endowment Fund. Law students deliver presentations free of charge to high school classes on a range of human rights topics, including Aboriginal rights and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. By making the law easy for high school students to understand, law students gain valuable presentation skills critical to their future careers while providing a community service Indigenous Food Sovereignty Summit In practice, this is Indigenous food sovereignty: having the ability to determine what food systems look like and reconnecting people to their food sources. For the First Nations and Metis in Manitoba this looks different from place to place, and nation to nation. It’s time to start sharing these practices and learning the food ways of our people. Each of the 5 historic First Nations along with the Metis Nation will be represented at the food summit; the Dene, Dakota, Cree, Ojibwe, and Oji-Cree will share their food stories and insight into their food culture. This is a gathering that is dedicated to being organized by Indigenous people, for Indigenous people, and with Indigenous people. Gallery of Student Art The Gallery of Student Art (GoSA) is a non-profit and non-commercial student-run gallery that is funded and supported by the University of Manitoba Student’s Union. The gallery space is centrally located in University Centre. GoSA’s mandate is to promote student art and design work at the University of Manitoba. The gallery is run by a coordinator and oversight committee. Proposals for shows are encouraged for submission from any student or group of students. Non-credit Participation in XIE - The Experimental Improv Ensemble is an interdisciplinary performance group. Activities of the ensemble vary widely, ranging from live soundtrack performance to the mounting of media art installations. The XIE is dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary collaboration with partners both on and off campus. Recent academic collaborations include projects with Architecture, Computer Science, Sculpture, and Electrical Engineering.

University of Manitoba's Wilderness Club UM Wilderness Club is a recreational group that brings together Students interested in intense outdoor activities such as backpacking, canoeing, and camping. University of Manitoba Parks Canada Campus Club UM Parks organize trips, activities, and events which will inspire young Canadians to get outdoors. Bring youth together across Canada to appreciate and protect Canada’s natural and cultural heritage. Communicate volunteer and employment opportunities with Parks

Residence Advisor (RA) The Resident Advisors are guides to an informed and enjoyable life in residence. They are familiar with the day-to-day operation of the residence, the department of Student Residences and the University of Manitoba community. It is part of their job as an RA to ensure students are incorporating sustainability into their lifestyles. A Green Residence Handbook and training is available for RAs to improve their knowledge of sustainable life skills with information in Energy, Kitchen, Transportation, Water and Waste categories. There are also "quick fact" sheets for RAs to provide to students with brief information in each category - they are promoted and hung throughout residence buildings. The Green Office Program The Green Office Program is offered through the Office of Sustainability (handbook available online) and helps teach people sustainable life skills and is easily accessible for anybody interested in learning. The Green Office Representatives (GO-Reps) program is also available to help provide information on sustainable lifestyle choices or are able to connect employees with the Office of Sustainability if further information is required. GO-Reps can be faculty or staff members in their department or office or students in their student group offices or lounges.

The Office of Sustainability employees full time summer students as well as part-time students during the Fall and Winter terms. Student projects can range from organizing outreach campaigns, marketing plans, developing new strategies (i.e. Transportation Strategies), creating reports from audit data, etc.

UMCycle UMCycle is run by the University of Manitoba's Student Union. The program provides volunteer opportunities for students to learn about sustainable transportation and bike mechanic skills.
