Canadian College and University Environmental Network Conference, 2017: the director of the Office of Sustainability attended the conference and presented on the sustainability benefits of reporting to STARS Food, Fuel and Fibre for a Sustainable Future - Canadian Society of Biosystems Engineers, 2017: the University of Manitoba hosted the annual CSBE conference with professors and local professionals (e.g. from IISD) speaking on topics of biosystems and sustainability. The conference was open to both students and professionals.

The University of Manitoba's Asper School of Business and Faculty of Engineering chooses student delegates to submit a case study to the ENGCOMM case competition. The competition is between students from Universities across Canada for awards including the Most Sustainable Solution Award.

A brief description of other collaborative efforts around sustainability during the previous year:
The University of Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg have a Joint Discipline Committee that oversees collaborative programs between the two institutions. The Joint M.A. Program in Peace and Conflict Studies was developed to cover sustainable development topics collaboratively between both institutions.
