Recyclemania
A brief description of the campaign:
Since 2008, UMBC has annual participated in recyclemania. RecycleMania is a friendly competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs that occurs every spring. Schools collect and track the amount of recycling and trash generated for eight weeks and, at the end of the competition, are nationally ranked against other schools in various categories based on who recycles the most.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
The campus community is engaged via signage, emails, and social media blasts. The positive impacts (i.e. tons of waste recycled) of the campaign are measured and reported.

Trex University Challenge
A brief description of the campaign (2nd campaign):
Trex sponsors local recycling programs in universities and communities throughout the country. In 2019 UMBC participated to collect more than 500 pounds of plastic refuse in a six-month span (about 40,500 plastic bags), to win a high-performance composite bench from Trex.
