A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):
Sustainable UMass (Eco-Rep Program, Fellowship Program, Auxiliary Services/Permaculture Initiative) is present at all Undergraduate and Transfer New Students Orientations (NSO) and Open Houses in the spring, summer, and fall. It holds information sessions for the new students to talk to them about sustainability and how they can get involved here on campus during the summer two days a week for 30 minutes each. The School of Earth & Sustainability promotes its offerings to all incoming graduate students through the Graduate School.
NOTE: In Fall 2013, NSO was completely sustainability themed and partnered with Sustainable UMass to hold sustainability discussions around the common read which was selected as "No Impact Man."
