A brief description of the socially responsible investment option for retirement plans:
Through the University of Michigan’s TIAA CREF retirement plan option, employees are at liberty to invest in the Social Choice Equity Fund (TRSCX), which primarily invests in companies that are screened to meet or exceed certain environmental, social and governance criteria. The evaluation process seeks out companies that are: strong stewards of the environment; devoted to serving local communities; committed to higher labor standards; dedicated to producing high-quality and safe products; and those managed in an exemplary or ethical manner.
