Transferring Energy from Here to There provides an introduction to the most powerful engineering principles you will ever learn - Thermodynamics: the science of transferring energy from one place or form to another place or form. We will introduce the tools you need to analyze energy systems from solar panels, to engines, to insulated coffee mugs. Energy is one of the top challenges we face as a global society. Energy demands are deeply tied to the other major challenges of clean water, health, food resources, and poverty. Understanding how energy systems work is key to understanding how to meet all these needs around the world.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
The data submitted for the Continuing Education courses comes from our current Coursera offerings at the time of submission. We are using Coursera courses as a proxy for all U-M Continuing Education offerings because there is no way to gather data on all U-M continuing ed offerings. Such offerings originate at many levels (e.g., school/college, departments, institutes, centers, programs, alumni association, etc.). There is no centralized system in place to identify how many courses are offered, who's offering them, and what their content is. Because Coursera is a university-sanctioned platform that is open to faculty throughout the university, we believe it provides a reliable and relevant proxy for all Continuing Ed offerings across the university.
