2040 students of 2934 respondents (69.5%) said yes to the community service question. Building from the efforts that were taken to ensure a representative sample, this equates to 30,049 students out of 43,236 (69.5%) enrolled at the University of Michigan in the fall of 2017. The 2040 respondents reported completing a total of 81,416 community service hours in the past year. For the entire student population (43,236) this equates to 1,725,540 community service hours.
