A brief description of the key components of the custom OHSMS:
The University has adopted an Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (https://ehs.unl.edu/programdocuments/iipp.pdf). This plan includes general safety rules, provisions for workplace inspections to identify and control potential occupational hazards, reporting and investigation of occupational injuries and illnesses, employee safety training, and establishment of a U-wide safety committee. This Plan is supported by many EHS-sponsored guidance materials (Safe Operating Procedures), supplemental plans (i.e., Bloodborne Pathogens) and training modules, all available on the EHS web page (https://ehs.unl.edu). https://ehs.unl.edu. Occupational injuries and illnesses are tracked through a database (EHS Assist) to facilitate trending analysis, including occupational injury rates.
