Yes
A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution:
The NC Consortium Program is a semester long program that offers five different options to choose from. The first option is Sustainable Urbanism where students will learn how current environmental issues are impacting Parisians and how they are working to be more environmentally friendly. Students will also explore urban structure and infrastructures related to health and hygiene. The Service Learning option allows students to volunteer with NGOs, helping Pairs face local and global issues, and learn about community services, the migrant crisis, generation gaps, awareness of disabilities, waste and recycling, and how food banks operate. Students volunteer on a local Parisian farm for first-hand experience in sustainable food sourcing in an urban setting where they learn to take care of animals, how to plant, trim, and compost, as well as helping with communication and marketing on the farm in the Urban Agriculture option. In the option for Urban Animals & Wildlife Preservation, students choose between the Paris Zoo or a non-profit organization and help with simple animal enclosure care, communication and marketing, and organizing cultural and educational events. https://studyabroad.uncc.edu/index.cfm?FuseAction=Programs.ViewProgram&Program_ID=11420
Germany: Strategic Management Capstone is a week-long study abroad program where students will have the opportunity to visit and familiarize with automakers as well as Tesla at the Giga factory in Grunheide, Brandenburg. students will study and report on the revolutionary changes related to the auto industry and how each of the major manufacturers are responding to the potentially disruptive changes. This will juxtapose with how Tesla and some other early entrants into the EV market are creating and building their early mover competitive advantages. Students will obtain a unique set of qualifications that will help establish outstanding credentials with wide application across multiple industries. Subjects studied will include artificial intelligence, ESG - environment, social and governance issues, blue ocean/red ocean factors and how to build and maintain competitive advantage through holistic thinking. https://studyabroad.uncc.edu/index.cfm?FuseAction=Programs.ViewProgramAngular&id=11765
Field Primatology provides students with hands-on experience observing and analyzing behavior of primates. The course includes a week-long field school at the Lemur Conservation Foundation Myakka Reserve in Florida. Endangered lemurs live in a naturalistic habitat in Manatee County, Florida where they travel through the forest, choosing what to eat, where to travel, and with whom to associate - much as they would in their native habitat of Madagascar. During this course, students will become part of a team who study this population and gain a better understanding of designing and conducting research projects, lemur behavior, and primate conservation.
