A brief description of the institution's indoor air quality plan, policy, and/or practices:
An indoor air quality program was developed by the UNCG Department of Environmental Health and Safety approximately 7 years ago and is reviewed annually. The objectives of this program include the following: * To prevent illness and adverse health symptoms associated with poor indoor air quality * To respond to indoor quality complaints effectively and to make recommendations for improvement; * To maintain indoor air quality within acceptable levels according to consensus guidelines. Should building occupants suspect an IAQ issue, they may submit an Occupant Interview Form detailing the complaint. If warranted, an EHS representative will conduct an initial on-site IAQ investigation (Phase I) to assess the work environment in question. Based on the information obtained during the Phase I evaluation, EHS will determine if a Phase II IAQ investigation is necessary. Common parameters tested during the Phase II assessments include temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide levels and carbon monoxide levels. EHS documents investigation results and works with Facilities Operations and outside vendors to implement any needed remedial measures.
