A brief description of the sustainability office:
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro established sustainability as one of its five Core Values through
the 2009 Strategic Plan. The University views sustainability as: "Academics, operations, and outreach…
conducted with careful attention to the enduring interconnectedness of social equity, the environment, the
economy, and aesthetics." UNCG has created an Office of Sustainability to improve operations and to provide
projects and services that enhance the environmental, human, and financial capital of the University and our
community. The Office works with faculty, staff and students from across the campus, promoting behavioral and
technological changes that lead us to better steward our resources.

A brief description of the sustainability coordinator’s position:
The primary role of the Sustainability Coordinator is to lead the Office of Sustainability as a “resource area” for the university. In this role, the Office will support the creation, implementation and monitoring of sustainability goals in each operational department. The Coordinator is a member of the Sustainability Council, which provides strategic direction recommendations to the Chancellor.
