A brief description of how the employee educators are selected (1st program):
Calls go out from upper administration for volunteer building team leaders and reps. Representatives are chosen from each academic department or operational unit per building. The maintenance mechanic and housekeeper of each building are automatically team members as well due to their positions.

A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive (1st program):
Spartan Sparks is a program to facilitate peer-to-peer education of employees across UNCG about energy conservation behaviors, as well as to encourage occupants to "take ownership" of their buildings. The Office of Sustainability conducts a kick-off meeting with each building energy team. During this meeting, roles and expectations of each team member are detailed, and resources for energy conservation are shared.

The Spartan Sparks strategic team is comprised of upper-level facilities staff, and led by the sustainability coordinator. This team helped create and refine the pilot program and is available to assist participants with any problems.
