The Plan defines sustainability as "academics, operations, and outreach... conducted with careful attention to the enduring interconnectedness of social equity, the environment, the economy, and aesthetics." This value is echoed throughout the document. UNCG Tomorrow also notes that the University is a "source of innovation and leadership meeting social, economic, and environmental challenges in the Piedmont Triad, North Carolina, and beyond."
