A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :
SOAR is UNC Greensboro’s new student orientation program required for all incoming undergraduates, including transfer students. SOAR is an interactive program designed to support students and their families as they transition into a new academic environment. During the last two years, orientation has taken place asynchronously via an online course in Canvas. Sustainability topics covered include: recycling, student clubs, the Green Fund, and sustainability resources available via the UNCG Mobile app. SOAR hopes to return to in-person sessions in summer 2022. In Fall of FY21, UNCG had 3,933 new students, including 2,189 undergraduates, 243 transfers, and 1,500 graduate students.
