Local advocacy
A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the municipal/local level:
In particular, as a representative of UNCG, he advocated for the increased use and prioritization of Historically Underutilized Businesses in the City's construction contracts and for the City to provide training to guide HUBs through the City's contracted services application process, and for the City to incorporate a green building standard for renovations and new construction. Both are reflective of UNCG's policies to design all new construction to USGBC LEED Silver standards and to provide businesses owned by minority person(s) or socially and economically disadvantaged person(s) equal access and opportunity to participate fully in all aspects of the University’s construction and procurement programs.
