As part of annual renewal process the licensing department receives a recommendation from the Collegiate Licensing Company that indicates if a licensee has been in compliance with the terms and conditions of their Licensing Agreement, or, what compliance issues have been recorded.
Additionally the Licensing Office uses the resources of the Fair Labor Association to verify that Licensees have completed their obligations as required by membership within the FLA. On occasions when Licensing observes that a significant obligation has not been addressed the licensee is given a short period of time to address and complete the obligation. Non-renewal is a real possibility should the licensee fail to meet those obligations.
In particular, addressing issues of purchasing, the Hammes Notre Dame Bookstore has purchased an additional line of apparel (ALTA GRACIA by Knights Apparel). Alta Gracia is a Honduran Factory that assures all workers a living wage.
