One of the 12 policies in this plan is "Sustainable Design" which states that "all development, redevelopment, and remodeling on the University of Oregon campus shall incorporate sustainable design principles including existing and future land use, landscaping, building, and transportation plans."
This policy requires that all construction projects adhere to the university's "Sustainable Development Plan" which has seven categories addressing sustainable design. These include the Planning and Design Process, Land Use/Transportation, Sites/Landscaping, Water, Energy, Materials and Resources, and Indoor Environmental Quality.
