A brief description of the program, policy, or practice:
The UO offers a "Gender Inclusive Housing Option" for mostly upper-class and returning students, except under special circumstances.
The term “gender-inclusive housing” refers to residence hall rooms where people of any sex or gender can live together. This includes opposite-gender roommates or other gender-identity roommate pairings. Put simply, under this option anyone can choose to share a room with anyone else. Roughly 16 spaces are available to returning and upper-class students for the 2010-2011 academic year.
In addition, the Gender Equity Hall will have one gender-neutral community restroom. This means that the restroom will not be restricted to a specific gender but will be open to all members of the community regardless of gender.
