A brief description of the event(s):
There are several sustainability themed events that take place over the academic year. Most of these events are organized by the students themselves. Only two examples of the dozen or so are featured below.
Every year, the Sustainable Development Centre of the SFUO hosts Green Weeks. This is a week of events dedicated to environmental justice and sustainability. Among other things, there will be workshops, discussion groups, and a speaker to come and speak to students about a major sustainability issue.
In 2012, Power Shift will be happening on Ottawa U campus. The Sustainable Development Centre and the Faculty of Social Sciences are both involved in making this happen. Power Shift 2012 is a gathering for youth to give them skills to take action on various environmental issues that affect them. Students from UOttawa will be heavily involved in the conference.
