A brief description of steps taken to ensure that e-waste is recycled responsibly, workers’ basic safety is protected, and environmental standards are met:
Since about 1995, the University of Ottawa recycles e-waste through companies that follow policies and receive funds from the Ontario Stewardship program that put in place a tax on whatever electronic article you buy so the recycling is free. When employees and students wish to recycle their e-waste, they can either see the I.T. of their department or deposit their batteries on/in the recycling counters.
