The University has embarked on an inter-university chemical sharing program to help reduce the amount of chemicals it purchases. Furthermore, there are rules in place about the use of other substances that we no longer use on campus (i.e. pesticides).

The University of Ottawa is regulated by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment when it comes to the safe management and disposal of hazardous waste. The Office of Risk Management offers an on-line guide about how to safely dispose of hazardous materials.
